Florida Ultramarathon June 2026 Race Results and Recap

The Florida ultrarunning calendar slowed down a bit in June. With only four ultramarathons on the schedule, and surprisingly none of them on trails, it was a quieter month, but the racing was anything but easy. Summer heat arrived in full force, course records fell, and athletes battled through the first of Florida's brutally hot months, with all but one race taking place on pavement. Here's a look back at the June Florida ultramarathon race results and some of the biggest performances from around the state.

We kicked things off in Miami with the Miami 50/50, a unique partner race through the streets of Miami where the top rule is you have to finish together. It's teamwork from mile one to mile 50.

Marc Burget and Ramon Palomo improved on their previous course record, finishing in an impressive 8:06. Jamie Saunders and Charles Poblenz won the co-ed division in 10:58, while Brandi Jacobs and Morgan Fowler claimed the women's title in 13:13. Race director Luis Coco and Running Ninja Events continue to earn rave reviews despite putting runners through some of South Florida's toughest conditions.

Next up was the second annual Wings of the West Urban Ultra in Deltona. Once again staying on pavement, runners explored West Volusia while collecting photos at the city's colorful "wings" murals. This scavenger hunt-style event added a relay option this year, giving runners the chance to split the 55K with a friend. Rohit Pawar took the overall win and set a new men's course record in 6:08:47, while Christine Tamburri captured the women's title in 7:07:56.

Rounding out the road ultras was the Toxic Trail 37, a race that raises awareness of the polluted discharge flowing from Lake Okeechobee to the Atlantic through Palm City. Along with solo runners, teams of two to six tackled the course. Twenty-five solo athletes survived the heat, sun, and seemingly endless bridge crossings to reach the ocean. Justin Boyle crossed first in 6:44:03, with Kay Trager just 29 seconds behind to win the women's division in 6:44:32. No course records fell this year, but considering the current marks of 4:32:51 by Marc Burget and 5:26:19 by Maria Urson, both set in 2024, that's no surprise.

Once again, Marc Burget's name appears in our monthly recap (he wasn't named 2025 Florida Ultrarunner of the Year for nothing) as he took on the incredibly unique InHouse Ultra at RunUnlimited in St. Petersburg. Think backyard ultra—but on a treadmill. Runners complete five miles every hour and must be ready to start again at the top of the next hour. What begins as a comfortable pace eventually becomes a serious mental and physical challenge.

Twelve runners represented Team Florida, competing not only against each other but also against athletes at a gym in Utah. Burget was the last Floridian standing, covering 90 miles before coming up just one yard short of the overall winner from Utah. Looking ahead to July, the summer racing season really heats up. The Summer Slam kicks off with the Lake Baldwin 50K, while the Terrible Trilogy begins with the Skunk Ape Night Run. We'll dive into both challenge series in next month's recap.

July also features two of the most punishing races on the Florida calendar: the Vero Beach Octopus Ultra and The Trident. Stay tuned to see who thrived... and who merely survived.
