Florida in July
By July, Florida's summer weather has settled into a familiar pattern: hot and humid mornings, intense sun, and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Even early runs can start warm and muggy, making effort and pace feel noticeably different from cooler months.

July's race calendar may be small, but it offers a little bit of everything Florida ultrarunning can throw at you. Runners take on The Trident's notoriously difficult soft sugar-sand dunes, circle the paved trail at the Lake Baldwin 50K, test themselves for 3 to 12 hours at the Sombrero Sizzler, or experience the vairety of Florida terrain at the Vero Beach Octopus Ultra.

July is a good time to settle into your summer training routine. Adjust expectations for the conditions, stay on top of hydration and cooling, and remember that slower summer miles can still be productive miles.

Tips for Runners:
-
Run early when possible, but expect warm and humid conditions even around sunrise
-
Keep an eye on afternoon thunderstorms and lightning
-
Give recovery extra attention as weeks of summer training begin to add up
